31 [d]And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” Luke 22:31-32
If there is a God, then why is so much evil in the world? Does God permit evil to happen in the world? These are some of the questions people are asking, and not just atheists, even some believers do ask as well. I know how many jump onto the Job story to conclude that God allows evil to happen, but it’s always important to look at the context.
What many fail to realize is that God is orderly. He is systematic in the way He gets things done. He sets up laws to govern how His creation function. God will not bypass His own will because He is sovereign. He doesn’t just do what He feels like – for He sets everything up for a purpose. He sets up the boundaries of everything in the world.
When I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band; 10 When I fixed My limit for it, and set bars and doors; 11 When I said, ‘This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!’ Job 38:9-11
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that [h]moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28
God created the earth and handed it over to Adam. He was given dominion and authority to supervise everything on the earth. God even gave him the power to name what He had created and accepted whatever he called them.
19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to [g]Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam, there was not found a helper comparable to him. Genesis 2:19-20
All these happened until sin entered the world. It has been man’s responsibility to make sure the will of God is done in the world from day one.
God Does Not Permit Evil – People Do!!
6 So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is[d]for you, but you should rule over it.” Genesis 4:6-7
For God to permit evil to happen in the world literally means He endorses it. God told Cain to rule over evil. The devil is behind all evil in the world, but it is our duty to stop Him. Christ came to restore the authority man lost at the beginning.
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go [c]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28″18-19
Jesus restored the dignity of humanity so that we can rule once more in the world. We have what it takes to prevent evil from taking place. God is in heaven – His will can only take place on earth through our collaboration. If we allow evil to take place, then we cannot blame God for our failure to work.
19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth [h]will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19
The words bind and loose in the verse simply means allow and disallow. So we have the keys (authority) to allow and disallow according to the will of God. The point is, we are God’s true representatives in this world. By knowing God’s will, we allow or disallow what the Father permits to happen in the world.
The one who doesn’t know the will of God allows evil to happen. But as believers, we shouldn’t permit evil to go through us – our duty is to be the vessels through which the Father’s will is done on the earth. Stay blessed

Prayer For Today
Holy Father, I thank you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for granting me the authority to rule and reign in glory. I refuse the devil any opportunity to wreak havoc in any area of my life. I disallow Him the right to do what he pleases anywhere I find myself. Your will shall be done to your glory – Amen.
