How To Know If You Are In God’s Blessings

The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22

One of the strongest indications as to whether one is walking in the blessing is beautifully laid to bear in our opening verse. Some have struggled to ascertain what God’s blessings are – it is indeed prudent to learn how to know if we are in the blessing or not.

Etseb is the Hebrew word that is translated as sorrow. The word means to hurt, pain, grieve or toil. It is the word that describes the pain women go through during labor.

16 To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow (etseb) and your conception; In pain (etseb) you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be [a]for your husband, And he shall rule over you.” Genesis 3:16

The understanding of the word sorrow that Proverbs 10:22 talks about has been vividly captured in the account of Genesis 3:16. Our wives and mothers tell the tale of the pain associated with giving birth. It is an experience that words may not fully convey.

In short, God’s blessings don’t come with the kind of suffering that some go through just to make a living. The moment you realize that there is a high degree of toiling just to make a little or, as in the popular parlance, “hand-to-mouth”, then, there is a sign that you may not be walking in God’s blessings.

22 The blessing of the Lord—it makes [truly] rich, and He adds no sorrow with it [neither does toiling increase it]. Proverbs 10:22 AMPC

The unfortunate thing is that some believers think God’s blessings cannot prosper both in the spiritual and material realms. If everything in the physical world came out of the Holy Spirit, then it is possible that God’s blessings can make you rich in the natural as well. And by riches, I’m talking about having plenty. Toiling will not bring you plenty. The kind of plenty that glorifies the Father certainly must come from His blessings.

Joy, A Product Of God’s Blessings

10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow (etseb), for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

Joy is the result of God’s blessings in our lives. It is a good sign if what you are doing is sustained by joy. Some believers are struggling because they are into ventures that have not been sanctioned by the blessing. When God’s blessings are at work in your life, there is no struggle. You are always full of joy even though you may encounter some challenges along the way.

The strength that powers you until you have manifested the blessing is joy. The lack of patience often is because of a poor understanding of how God’s blessings come into manifestation. Abraham learned this secret and for 25 years, waited for Isaac, with joy and praises to God. The ability to wait for the manifestation of God’s blessings in the physical realm largely depends on joy.

If you are one of those who have been saying, “God bless my hustle/hassle”, then know that the Father’s blessings rather take away the struggle so that you can achieve greatness and plenty without any difficulties. Therefore, examine your life today; are you struggling? Is there no joy in doing what you are doing? is it often that you struggle just to get little? It could be a sign that you are not walking in God’s blessings.

Let the Holy Spirit inspire you today with ground-breaking divine ideas, divine appointments and connections, and above all, divine provisions that will bring lasting joy to you. I believe by resting on the Father, you be walk in plenty without any stress at all. Stay blessed always.
