13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. Matthew 5:13
When we talk about character, all that it means is your behavior or what you are made of. Therefore, a Godly character is to have a behavior that is full of the characteristics of God. Having been born again by God, it is imperative that you possess His character.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [e]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13
It is not out of place to have certain characteristics or behavior of your biological parents. If you don’t look like your father, you may resemble your mother. If you don’t look like them, you could be having some character traits that could be directly linked to them.
In the same way, everyone born of God ought to have God’s kind of behavior. You need to consciously build build Godly character that when your world sees, they will imediately know that you are what they need to have a better life.
The way you build a Godly character is to be lead by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. Anyone who wants to be the salt of the world cannot do without the Holy Spirit and the Word. God’s character is seen in His Word. His behavior is manifested in His word. Therefore, anyone who wants to have Godly behavior must have the Word planted in the heart in order to bear fruit.
1 God, who [a]at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the [b]worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had [c]by Himself [d]purged [e]our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:1-3
Deny Yourself To Build A Godly Character
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:14
You need to yield and be humble to the Holy Spirit and His Word if you want to stand tall in this world. Godliness is what this world needs. This world needs behaviors that will add taste to it. Too many people are living their live as if there is no judgement.
Jesus came to represent God in a proper and godly way. He did not just come to preach the gospel of the kingdom or to die for the sin of the world, but came to live and demonstrate how the Father wants us to behave. Your character must be in-line with how the Father wants you to live. Until you submit yourself to the Word and the Spirit, building a Godly character will be difficult.
Until you are able to influence your environment and those around you in the same way salt gives taste to food, you haven’t yet built a Godly character.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
Your behavior is always seen by others. You cannot have a Godly character without others knowing. Your Godly character will be seen by your world and as they take notice of the impact you are making in their lives, they will give God the glory. Stay blessed always
