24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Mark 11:24
One does not receive from God by just shouting “I receive it”. It doesn’t work that way in the kingdom. What you need is to understand how to receive without having to struggle.
There are a few words in Greek that have been translated receive in the English bible. However, there is one predominant word that is often used – that is, lambano. It means to take or grasp or lay hold of something. The idea of receiving to most people is passive. But lambano is more of an active word than a passive one.
To receive from God involves grasping what you’re looking for. Being passive will not help your course. God has made everything available for us – we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. However, you need to go grab your blessing if you’re serious about walking in the Father’s glory.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Ephesians 1:3
So the obvious question that arises here is that, how does one receive? How do you grasp or take or lay hold of what God has made available to you? I will briefly share with you three ways of receiving from God correctly.
Three Ways To Correctly Receive From God
First of all, you need to walk in faith. Anyone who wants to receive from God must first walk in faith or forget it. Faith comes when you hear the word of God.
17 So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
The Word is the only medium through which God makes available to us all that He is. When you ask God for anything, be also ready to hear His Word concerning your request. Faith is central to everything God does. It is how God stores His Word in our hearts.
The second key is to believe. Faith and believing are not the same – many have used them interchangeably for a long time. As indicated earlier, faith comes by hearing the word of God and how it is stored in our hearts. To believe is to be convinced by what you have heard.
23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23
If you believe that you are healed, then you are healed. The Word created this beautiful world – if God through His Word says you’re healed, there’s absolutely nothing to doubt.
The third point is thanksgiving and ascribing glory to God. Thanksgiving is so powerful. I see many believers not making use of this power grace we have from the Lord. When we thank and ascribe Him glory, we openly express how convinced we are about His power.
20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. Romans 4:20-21
By applying these three simple keys, there is no way you will have problems receiving from God. Through His unfailing love, God has made everything available to us. Position yourself to receive from God today. Don’t just shout “I receive it” – take these steps to receive from God. Stay blessed.
