45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food [i]in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Matthew 24:45-46
We are in the very last days – this is not a cliché. The Lord Jesus’s return is closer than you think. Don’t take it for granted by thinking you may have heard it several times. We are in serious times.
However, as a child of God, you need to be ready. You need to know how to be ready in waiting for Jesus’s return. Our opening verse gives us an idea of what is expected of us. God expects us to be working while waiting. Jesus wants to return to find a church that is doing His will. Blessed is the servant whom the master will find so doing when He comes.
In other words, our Lord Jesus doesn’t want to come to meet a church that is waiting in idleness. We have been given the mandate to rule in the world by making sure the father’s will is carried out. For example, it is expected of us to be preaching the gospel, winning souls, healing the sick, prospering through the blessings of the Lord, etc.
You cannot survive as a believer in these last days if you are not interested in doing the work of God. The more you get connected and involved in kingdom business, you prepare yourself for the Lord’s return. Don’t just sit down waiting to go to heaven – you have to be part of God’s move to save everyone.
Jesus’s return calls for collective action. We need to step up our game and warn the world to repent and turn to the glorious life of the kingdom. Are you going through the storms to make sure someone is saved? That is the only way you get yourself ready for the Lord.
By living and walking in the Spirit, you deny the devil his will. When you’re deeply rooted in the life of the Spirit, it brings you to the point of being focused. You cannot come this far to miss out – get busy for your Father – the kingdom is counting on you.
Jesus’s Return Is Close – Don’t be lazy!
48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying [j]his coming,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 24:48-51
The Lord’s return shouldn’t be a surprise to His church. But unfortunately, some believers boldly claim that the Lord shouldn’t return because they are not ready. Of course, you cannot be ready if you’re not doing the Father’s will. You cannot be ready if you have compromised the standards of the kingdom with the deceptive pleasures of the world.
The evil servant had the excuse of the master delaying his coming. Be reminded however that, our Lord has not delayed His coming. He is waiting to save more people. Don’t just think about your salvation and don’t care about others. You need to get out there working with the Lord to save people. You need to make sure you are living the life of the Spirit.
Don’t be lazy – your work will get you ready and fit for the Lord Jesus’s return. He is closer than before. Come, Lord – come now, Lord! Stay blessed
