Run The Race For A Crown

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Every believer must have the understanding of running the race of our faith-life for a reward. This must be intentionally done. The ultimate accolade we all have to desire is, “thou good and faithful servant”.

24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may [i]obtain it.25 And everyone who competes for the prize[j]is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Our lives in Christ Jesus are akin to running a race. No athlete goes into a competition without thinking of the ultimate. What you aspire to achieve determines how you prepare and eventually, perform during the race. If you don’t train well, you cannot run well. And if you don’t run well, you won’t get the ultimate prize.

You have to make up your mind to run the race in Christ in such a way that, heaven will thoroughly celebrate you when we get back home. What Paul described as running the race were the many souls he preached the gospel to, the many churches he planted as well as the ministries he fulfilled.

Don’t Let Anything Prevent You To Run The Race

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the [a]author and [b]finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2

Jesus’race was to go to the cross and die for the sin of the world. Paul’s race was to preach the gospel to both the Jews and Gentiles. The Apostles had their own race. Every believer has his/her own race. Your goal should not let anything hinder you from running your race.

We are ambassadors of Christ in this world. Our job is to preach the gospel to every creature. You must do it with an excellent spirit knowing that God will give you a crown for running the race with joy. Jesus humbled himself and died the death on the cross. Today, His name is highly exalted above every name. That is His crown, and reward for running His race.

Beyond eternal life, what else can God give you for your contribution to the kingdom? Unfortunately, some will only have eternal life. But God wants you to have some more rewards in addition to eternal life. So run the race well. Run the race with the aim of getting your crown. Preach the gospel, fulfill your ministry – make sure you lift the name of God in Christ very high.

God is faithful and will make sure you are rewarded for your work done. Run the race with joy and the grace of the Lord will guide you to accomplish more. Stay blessed
