The Glory Of Giving

35 I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” Acts 20:35

God has a purpose for everything. Understanding His purposes will humble you and keep you at par with His mission in the world. Giving is one such aspect of our walk with God that has been badly hit with many misconceptions. The purpose of giving, therefore, is to reveal the glory of the Father.

It is more blessed to give than to receive – in other words, your giving is an indication of your level of blessing. A lot of believers focus on receiving in such a way that, the only reason they give is only when there is a promise to receive. However, giving is what the Father demands to manifest His glory in the lives of people.

It has almost become like a lottery to some of us – because, in their minds, they give only when something is needed. Such a mindset is farther from the reason we have the blessing of the Lord in our lives. If the motivation for your giving is not to bring glory to the Father, the foundation for your action is flawed.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. Ephesians 1:3

We’ve all been already blessed in Christ. We need to understand what to do with the blessing the Father has bestowed upon us in Christ. Our giving is what demonstrates how blessed we are by the Father. The blessing empowers us to prosper so we can give at all times.

It is glorious to give. It is not extortion when you get the opportunity to give. Anyone thinking this way has not put on the mind of Christ. It is His blessing that has prospered us – we owe it all to Him. Failure to recognize that God is both your source and resource will undermine your giving. It is easy for the devil to deceive you into believing that, what you have is a result of your hard work.

You, Will, Enjoy Giving When You Recognize God As Both Your Source And Resource

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18

One thing you should understand is that in Christ, the Father is responsible for everything. You often hear people describing themselves as self-made this or that; however, in Christ, we are God-made! Whenever you harbor the thoughts that your hard work is responsible for where you are at the moment, giving will be a challenge. And when you do give, it may not come from a cheerful heart.

If what you possess came by the blessing of the Lord, giving will not be a headache. The source wants you to give – His goal is to give you more to give. No wonder in the early church, members sold their possessions and gave the proceeds to the apostles for daily distribution. It would’ve been breaking news if it happened in our generation.

Giving should be your lifestyle. We are a kingdom of givers – blessed enough to manifest the glory of our Father. We don’t give with grim faces because we know who our source is. Joy feels the heart knowing that giving pleases the Father. What you have is not just meant for you alone – neither is it meant for you and your family. God has a grand plan for everything He brings your way.

Satan is good at giving all sorts of ideas to keep you in a state of selfishness – refuse it! Give always! For your Father is the greatest giver of all time. Stay blessed

Prayer For Today

Holy Father, blessed be your name in Christ Jesus for all that you have done for me. I thank you also for being my source and resource. Henceforth, I submit myself to your pleasure of giving. I give with a heart full of joy and by your grace, I shall continue to give for all to see your glory. This I have prayed in Jesus’ name – Amen!
