14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15
Most believers love to pray. Prayer is integral to our walk with the Father. It is our main means of communication – however, there is a purpose for praying, and every child of God ought to be aware of it.
The main reason we are in the world is to fulfill God’s will. No one is here to do their will but that of God. Understanding this truth will align your expectations and help you avoid frustrations. Prayer, is, therefore, the place where we encounter the will of God for our lives.
In other words, the purpose of prayer is to engage the will of God for our lives. Our opening scripture is very clear on this – in that, our prayers are not heard if they are not aligned with the will of God. We are heard when` pray according to the will of God, and we are not heard if we don’t pray according to His will.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Mattew 6:33
The will of God is to seek the interest of the kingdom first. Having the same desire as the Father is the surest way of praying purposefully. They that seek the interest of the kingdom first don’t have to spend hours asking God for anything. Whatever they need is added to their lives.
2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4 Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. Luke 10:2-4
They that focus on the kingdom are divinely taken care of. The will of God is for us to preach the gospel whiles He takes care of what we need. I have encountered many believers full of frustration because they have a wrong understanding of prayer. They think the Father is obliged to answer to whatever they say.
Prayer Is To Enforce The Will Of God On The Earth
41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Luke 22:41-42
Jesus mastered prayer. He knew from day one that prayer is all about the will of God. You will achieve nothing by spending all of your time praying for your will to be done. Even when He taught the disciples how to pray, the focus was on God’s will being don’t on earth.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10
The purpose of prayer and the secret to achieving answers very fast is to discover God’s will. For instance, we are in a dispensation of God’s mercy and grace. This time is for salvation and not for vengeance. God wants all people to be saved. You cannot, therefore, be praying for people to die when God wants them saved.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:3-4
The Father’s will is for everyone to be saved. God will immediately hear your prayer when you pray for the salvation of souls. If your goal is to for people to die so that you can prosper, then God can’t help you. Let the will of God be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Focus on the will of God and all your prayers shall be answered. Be like Epharas whose sole job was to establish the faith of the saints through prayer.
12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and [c]complete in all the will of God. Colossians 4:12
The will of God is all that He wants to hear from you. Be a partner in enforcing the Father’s will on earth. Stay blessed
