16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:16-17
Every child of God ought to know that there are two kinds of people in the world. We often quote 2 Corinthians 5:17 in isolation from a progressive thought contained in verse 16. In context, verse 16 carries an important thought that cannot be ignored.
The two kinds of people that are in the world are natural and spiritual people. This shouldn’t come as a surprise because the life of God in Christ Jesus is purely spiritual. We all came into the world naturally, but until one receives the gospel with the subsequent baptism of the Holy Spirit, he cannot be spiritual.
God wants us to regard no one according to the flesh. Living in the flesh is a natural life. And of course, it is not possible to live under the sun without having flesh, but the life of the Spirit gives the body a kind of vitality that gets it to function divinely.
The first man and his wife were created naturally from the ground. They represent people who are natural and carnal. However, when one turns to the Lord, he becomes a new creation from above.
45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the earth, made[i] of dust; the second Man is [j]the Lord from heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:45-47
Natural people are mostly controlled by the five senses. Spiritual people are from God and are controlled by the Holy Spirit. Natural people can’t see beyond what is natural, however, spiritual people can see what the carnal person cannot.
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
The Difference Between The Two Kinds Of People Lies In Their Nature
13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13
Who you are (nature) determines what you can do. Natural people are used to a particular way of doing things, and so are those who are in the Spirit. The life of a believer comes from his Father (God). The ability of the Father is at work in His children even though some of them live here on earth.
There is no doubt that if Christians are going to understand the nature they have, they can so much more. The Spiritual nature created the natural one. God is Spirit, and He made all things in this natural environment. In other words, the ability to create comes from the Spirit’s life.
Natural people have no idea as to what goes on in the realm of the spirit. Because the natural life is inferior to the quality of life that we have in the Spirit. The devil often manipulates people who are in the flesh because they cannot see beyond what is before them.
Jesus came to die as a natural man to rescue us into becoming a spiritual people. As a spiritual person, God has given you mastery over the senses and the grace to walk in your reality here on earth. The two kinds of people live side by side in the world, but it is about time that those who have the life of the Spirit stand out to the glory of the Father.
God’s children ought to walk spiritually. Those in the flesh are living as they should – that is, in their senses. The fact that you have a body doesn’t mean you cannot walk in the Spirit in this world. The grace of God is available for you to live in a manner that pleases the Father. Stay blessed
