4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. John 15:4
Intimacy with God must be a priority. The only way to manifest the glory of God in a grand style is to build an intimacy with Him. However, in as much as many desire to have a proper intimacy with God, the challenge has always been how to go about it.
4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:4
Prayer and the continuous feeding of the Word of God are the two main ways to build a robust intimacy with God. I have come across a lot of believers who love to pray, but have little interest in receiving the word of God.
An effective prayer life is one derived from the word of God. In other words, for you to pray highly effectively depends on the word of God you carry in your Spirit. There cannot be intimacy with God without understanding the place of prayer and the Word.
The word of God is the only vehicle that communicates the Father’s will, plans, and purposes to us. Prayer happens when we communicate to God based on what we have received from Him. We need to acknowledge the Father as the source of our relationship if we want to have a sustained intimacy with Him. We can only bear fruits because of what He deposits in us.
We talk to God when we pray- He, in turn, talks to us when we hear His Word. There cannot be a deep fellowship if you are more interested in prayer than receiving the Word or vice versa. It is true that we are to pray without ceasing. But we also have to hear the Word without ceasing. You cannot pray out of your emotions – the Word is the source and foundation of prayer.
Intimacy With God Is The Reason For Our Salvation
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. John 15:7
Whenever a couple has intimacy, the result of their action is often a baby – that will be their fruit. It is God’s will to have an imprint in your life. We have been born again so that God can deposit Himself in us. You cannot bear any kind of fruit for the Lord if you haven’t received His Word. The Word is the seed.
Prayer becomes effective and effectual when we take a deep dive into the Word. This will lead us into the mind and intent of the Father. These two keys are important if we want to be constantly filled with the glory and presence of God. What you think about, and your daily pursuits must come from a place of intimacy.
Cultivate the habit of spending quality time to receive the Word. It will transform your prayer life. There is good news in Christ. Let the gospel get deep into your heart until prayer wells up as incense unto the Lord. Yes, when prayer is based on the Word, and because of its sanctification effect, our communication becomes a sweet-smelling aroma of incense unto God.
Don’t use your own standard to walk with God. Learn to let His Word inform your prayer life. When you effectively put these two together, you will not lack the presence of God. Daily think about the Word and pray. It should be your routine. Brood upon the Word to enable you to deliver a faith-filled prayer that is capable of changing any kind of circumstances in your life. Stay blessed
