Why You Should Fight The Good Fight Of Faith

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called, and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12

There should be no believer who shies away from fighting the good fight of faith. If someone is calling for a fight in which your elder brother had already beaten, weakened, and stripped of all his weapons he can use against, would you say so?

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [c]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

Our fight with the devil and his cohorts is not like what happens in a boxing ring. It is a fight of faith because it involves using the Word of truth against the lies of the enemy. Satan is the only enemy of our Father. He is behind the many terrible things going on around us. People are not responsible – the manipulator is the devil who hides behind innocent souls to wreak havoc. He is the one we fight.

But the position of our fight is not like one we are trying to win. No, no, no! It’s for a good reason it’s described as the good fight of faith. It is good because God is sending you to fight someone He already defeated. How good is that? God in Christ already defeated the enemy for us. He keeps coming back because he thinks he still possesses the right over everybody.

Jesus made sure to strip him of every authority he had over man. Simply put, the devil is powerless over those in Christ. He goes about looking for someone to devour because he can’t have his way with everybody.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 1 Peter 5:8

You Have What It Takes To Fight The Good Fight Of Faith

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:15

Jesus totally disarmed Satan and made a mockery of him through the cross. As a result, a believer shouldn’t be afraid to counteract the strategies of the devil. In Christ, we have been positioned to continue enforcing the victory our Lord chalked for us.

All that you need is faith from Christ to silence the enemy. He has no authority over you! Faith comes by hearing the word of God in Christ. Jesus died and was raised to give you the upper hand over the devil. You don’t engage the enemy by thinking defeat. You’re already victorious in Christ! All it takes is to resist him, cast him out, and he will flee.

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Submitting to God involves you receiving and believing in His Word. God has secured your freedom from the powers of the enemy through Christ Jesus. The question is, do you believe it? If you do, then resisting the devil won’t be a difficult task. All that it takes is to only believe, resist the devil and he will flee from you!

What you need to fight the good fight of faith is faith. And you already have it. It is not called the good fight of prayer. Because many like to pray without exercising their faith. Prayer is good – but you can pray all you want, if you don’t release the faith you have from God, your prayer is impotent.

I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8

What God is looking out for in our prayers is faith. It is faith that the enemy is afraid of. And do you know why? Because faith is based on the word of God. The power of God is released through the medium of His Word. And when the Word is delivered, it performs. Satan knows that! But unfortunately, some believers think that the word of God is not enough – but it is enough!

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. Romans 12:3

You don’t have a faith problem. Don’t think that the devil is more powerful than you. He cannot destroy anything that concerns you. Therefore, don’t give him any chance to mess up your life. Arise with your faith and resist him. You have the faith needed to get the job done.

The Word you have received into your heart is more than capable of silencing the enemy. Stay blessed
